" Kirk, my friend, revenge is a dish best served cold... but Mongolian Barbecue is best when it's HOT! Come on down and get some today! " - Khan Noonian Singh

Begun in the spring of 1998 as a reaction to the continual postponement of the Citypages Beer Festival, BIYF is a loosely formatted event which involves friends, beer, food and entertainment. Last year's fest, held at the residence of Jim & Suz, featured movies, beer, a refreshing walk, beer, pizza, beer, Orson Wells Trail Mix™ and Hooch (beer). The event kicked off with the Gasthof zur Gemutlichkeit dining experience. It's so much more than just a meal.

This year we hope to take you boldly where no beerfest has gone before by giving the fest a theme. Jim & Suz have once again agreed to host and the schedule is shaping up (see right). All developments will be chronicled here, so keep checking back.

Please email me with all your suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Itinerary v2.4

June 11-13, 1999

Prior to Evening - Arrival / Lodging Check-In
Twin Cities Residences / Hotels. Out-of-towners that will be staying with Twin Cities residents will need to contact their hosts in order to set up the specific "wheres" and "whens" of the check-in procedure. Each couple should also plan on providing two different types of beer to sample. Quantity of each type is at your discretion, but there should be at least enough of each of your choices to provide a small sample for all ten people. You may bring your selections with you to the festival, or you can sign up for the first small group seminar listed below.

Evening - Small Group Activities
Held at various locations. Participants can sign up for several small group seminars including:

"The Well-Stocked Refrigerator" - Practice purchasing and storing beer for use during Saturday's Festival.

"The Lost Art of Conversation" - Learn how to reminisce with old friends and dazzle them with witty repartee.

"Modern American Film Classics" - View and critically review a current cinema classic in the theater.

"Debauchery 101" - Resurrect college skills long dormant and make yourself regret the coming dawn.

"Quarters; An Empirical Study" - Do motor skill functions become progressively impaired through the consumption of beverages such as beer or, as noted researcher Dr. Jonathan Fever of Cincinnati contends, are they in fact enhanced? You be the judge as new data is collected from participating audience members in this real-time research event. Note: This seminar is often run concurrently with Debauchery 101.

Bruegger's Bagels, Dinkytown. Festival materials will be distributed at the meal.
