BIYF
Festival - "Breaking
Winter's Tyranny Since 1998"

Please continue to let me know how your schedules develop
so that I can add your plans
in below. That way we'll all have a common timeline to reference. Thanks
in advance!
Thursday, May 27,
2004
Zardoz and NotOfThisEarth leave
Cedar Rapids and head to Rochester to spend the evening. Dinner out and
a visit to the local Barnes & Noble may be on the menu. Hmmm... Add in
a trip to Target and it sounds a lot like a "wild" night out for us in
CR.
Bricker and Malla decide on the final positioning of the
couches for MVP (Maximum Viewing Potential).
Friday, May 28,
2004
Zardoz and NotOfThisEarth head
to the Twin Cities and hope to connect with Rollerballer and Phoeberella (and Bricker, Malla, Starbuck,
and Starbuck's Wife if
they're available and/or interested) for food, fun, and Friday Night
Opening Festivities.
Sandman, Blendergirl,
and Trogdor plan
on staying at the Bricker/Malla residence,
predicted arrival time circa 10:00 PM local time. It sounds like Trogdor's
Wife will
not be able to join us.
Zardoz and NotOfThisEarth will
brave the Giant Rollerball Poster (GRP) and stay at the Rollerballer/Phoeberella residence.
Current rendevous time TBA. Z/NOTE will
be getting to the Twin Cities by mid-day or so, however.
So far, it sounds like Zardoz, NotOfThisEarth, Phoeberella, Rollerballer, Starbuck, Wife
of Starbuck, Bricker,
and Malla may be up for something Friday night. More
will be posted as it becomes known.
It sounds like the Gasthof
zur Gemütlichkeit and/or movie viewing at the theater,
(possibly the movie
"The
Day After Tomorrow") might be options
for Friday night, depending on what schedules look like for the rest
of the Collective. Starbuck offers some wise
counsel should we go with the GZG option.
Saturday, May
29, 2004
Typically, Saturday includes beer, in-home movies, out-of-home
movies, dining in or out, beer, lots of friends, and quite often a walk
to cleanse the palette between movies. Here's how things are starting
to shape up:
Trogdor will be bringing the projection
unit.
Bricker will
be pre-stocking the beer fridge, though Sandman has
expressed his appreciation of the good old-fashioned mass beer-buying
trip. The Brickmeister provides this
preview of the selections to date. The unannotated list is here:
- Terrible Dark Ale
- Flying Dog K9 Cruiser
- Shiner Hefeweizen
- Lake Superior Special Ale
- Boulevard Irish Red
- Victory Golden Monkey
- Victory Storm King Stout
- Rouge Honey Cream Ale
- Rouge Oregon Golden Ale
- Hazed and Infused Dry-Hopped Ale
- Tennet's of Scotland
- Dixie Crimson Voodo Ale
- Stiegl “Beer brewed with lemon-soda”
- Bells Amber Ale
- Young's Double Chocalate Stout
- Cave Creek Chili Beer
Blendergirl will
have blender at the ready. Tasty blender treats may include:
Glassware options are in question: Weigh in with your opinion today! Rollerballer and Zardoz will
have BIYF steins, but we're always up for more beverage containment options.
With three "monkey" drinks on the menu, perhaps I should have gone with
my back-up choice for the BIYF motto: "Grab the Monkey!" ("Carpe
Simian?") Rollerballer has suggested The
Day After Tomorrow for a theater movie choice, assuming we
didn't get to a movie on Friday night.
Several different
people have been pondering the possibilities for movie viewing. What
titles
will make the cut?
We wonders, precious. We wonders ... Some current suggested options
include:
- Kingdom of the Spiders
- Assorted Shatner Short Subjects (SSS)
- Free Enterprise
- Comic Book: The Movie
- Isaac Asimov's Nightfall (2000)
- Perennial Bride's Maids: Krull, Rollerball, Cherry 2000, Westworld,
et. al.
Festival HQ proposes procuring snacks for movie time on
Saturday and giving Bricker's new grill a good workout
for dinner on Saturday evening. Rollerballer has proposed
that the suggested Sunday Brunch might be well suited to Saturday morning
instead.
Sunday, May 30,
2004
Typically, Sunday includes some sort of breakfast rendezvous
and departures from the Twin Cities by the non-natives. Last year, due
to the relaxed Memorial Day pace, this occupied a larger slice of the
day than in previous years.
There's been a motion for Sunday Brunch at Festival HQ
and also a motion for once again holding closing ceremonies at Khaaan's
Mongolian Barbeque. Remember, revenge is a dish best served
cold, but Mongolian Barbeque is best when it's hot-Hot-HOT. Head on down
and get some today!
There's an outside chance of ZootDaze (and
possibly even ZootDaze's Brother) joining us for a while
on Sunday. Unlikely at this point, but we'll leave contact information
with him.
Zardoz and NotOfThisEarth will
be leaving the Twin Cities either late on Sunday or during the day on
Monday. Monday, May 31,
2004
Possible departure date for Zardoz and NotOfThisEarth.
