BIYF Project Alert!
This is just what I was looking for in the news today.

So who's in? Let's develop an app for that!

I shouldn't be surprised, but it turns out Mr Lucas STILL can't leave well enough alone.
Seriously- how arrogant and tone-deaf do you have to be to change the movies YET AGAIN! And not with cooler effects. No No- he has to ALTER THE DIALOG to change the tone of the scene.
I swear he's doing this just for publicity now. George- here's a hint: if you want to make a big splash, announce a new version where the special effects are cleaned up, but ALL DIALOG AND SCENES ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL RELEASE! You will get the attention you crave- trust me.

I'm guessing it's not new, but thanks to a well-placed typo, I have located a new favorite snark.

I feel the urge to send this type of thing out at least once a week.
And now I can.

I am pleased to say that yes- I do know these people! pretty well actually- Brian was a freshman at Mac when I was his RA, and Margaret worked in the Financial Aid office. We still keep in frequent contact, so we're angling for a seat at the screening.
We are thrilled that they got this one! Go Cheese!
They are really cool people, and Brian is a font of non-stop creativity and occasional creepiness. but all in good fun. The kids are great, and loads of fun.
So Congrats to the Bulls. Hey, can I borrow some DVD's?

Not to step on any toes (I'm definitely looking forward to what Starbuck and Bricker will have brewed and rounded up, respectively) but Phoeberella and I have been wanting to share some of the wondrous alcoholic bounty we have discovered here in the Inland Empire.
Since we're flying in that would seem unlikely. Ah, but I'll be driving to Minnesota this week to do some work on the house. With a bunch of beery goodness in the trunk. Hooray! Can't wait to have you guys taste some of this stuff. And no, it's not all fruity. Something for everyone.

I know there's been some doubt, and nobody wanted to ask. But it's official now. We're making it a policy to always migrate!
Who wants to stay sober until 6:08 PM on Friday so they can pick us up at the airport?
Hey, hey, hey! BIYF's on the way!

It's the flip side of the usual Lent story:
An Iowa man gives up everything except beer during Lent.
You should definitely click through to see what he broke his fast with!
How is this not someone we know?

Yep, it's March 25th, the day of Sauron's fall, thereafter New Year's Day in Gondor (and Arnor, presumably).
It occurs to me that if one were to pick a 'Geek Week' you could do a lot worse than March 22 (Shatner's birthday) to March 26 (Nimoy's birthday). Or if you want just one day go with the one right in the middle (like Presidents' Day for Lincoln and Washington), the 24th, which would also be Gondorian New Year's Eve.
I mentioned this to much good-natured kidding on Facebook, but thought I would repeat it here for the non-Facebooking portion of the Collective.
