... at least for now. Photos from the July 22 B-Squad finale are now posted. Intoxicam™ Motion Blurring added live, not in post-production.

And that makes me a very bad person.
Japanese baseball team surrenders 66 runs on 250 pitches in 2 innings
Something to shoot for I guess.

... and so lame! Have you seen these? The only one that's slightly current is this:
http://nadsnews.wordpress.com/
But there are also these:

I cannot emphasize the lameness enough. Lame write-ups, lamely hosted at WordPress.com itself. No branding, no prose, no quality...
The downside of Web 2.0 - More monkeys on faster/easier "typewriters" producing more stuff that isn't Shakespeare.
Or should I say "that isn't Bricker"? Go Squad!

Well, since I won't be swinging any bats or fielding any balls this summer for the B-Squad, I need to find another way to participate in the group insanity.
Having tossed aside the idea of Scorekeeper (bad handwriting) and Permanent Base Coach (I would have to understand strategy), I suggest the idea of Tommy the Beer Man!
Then I can wear one of these!
Although the way we drink, I'll need a few spares.

The Bricker checks in from the road on July 3rd (during the Squad's off week). -- Z
Hey all,
I’m in Des Moines driving around trying to find a super-hot-sparkler with which to frighten my wife and there is a station break where the radio station claims to be the “Rock Station That Rocks.” It occurs to me that this is the perfect slogan for this music, this day, this country.
It also occurs to me how stupid it is not to play softball because of the 4th of July holiday. Seriously, if there was a single day that you should be the softball team that softballs, it would be tomorrow. But alas, no game this week.
Hang in there citizens! Next week is an all new adventure!

The new recap from The Bricker. -- Z
If this week's game was a mystery novel, the crime would take place on the second page. There would be no time for readers to become attached to the characters or settle into the location or even get hooked on some sort of suspense. Basically you'd open the book and right off the bat a horrible crime takes place and then you are off.
A good mystery can pull this off by having a crime that is so confusing or compelling or creepy that it commands your attention. You think, "no way - did I just read that?" and immediately flip the page to confirm the existence of such depravity. (Read more...)

Certainly you are not forgetting the May 10th game? It seems so long ago, yet I keep hoping to see your dashing essay about the B-Squad's daring, exciting and fun comeback on this lively site.

This week's recap from The Bricker. Not sure if I missed one or not. The pictures are from the previous week. -- Z
From what I was told, the game was really great. Unable to attend, I humbly submit the following game recap:
The hats arrived and although I had hoped they would be gaudy I hear they are simple, even understated. But people like that these days. No one wants to stand out if they can help it. You could get labeled a trouble maker or, even worse, volunteered for some sort of end-of-season musical review.
Doug got hit in the sternum. I'm not sure where the sternum is but I bet it hurt like hell. It's OK, Doug is a really tough guy. He can take a licking and keep on ticking if you know what I mean. You don't see him quitting when the seas start to chop or asking for a time out or any kind of chicken stuff. (Read more...)
