Sally Sparrow Sighting

Yes, I've been gone a while. Will try to be better. So here's what I've got:

If you're like me you totally fell in love with Sally Sparrow when you first saw Blink, officially the Second-Best Doctor Who Episode Ever.

Did you know that she is currently nominated for a Best Actress Oscar?

I have to admit that I did not recognize her in the role (must be the dark hair). Thanks, IMDB!

Seriously, you should see it. It's a great film.

Barry Letts 1925-2009

Barry Letts, producer of Doctor Who through the Pertwee era, creator of Sarah Jane Smith, and the man who cast Tom Baker as the Doctor, has passed away at the age of 84.

New Who Goes By "DW"

The BBC has just unveiled the new Doctor Who logo that will be used when new Doctor Matt Smith takes over next year.

It's OK, I guess - made better with sound and motion (and some lens flares for Starbuck). I wasn't all that attached to the flattened oval one we've been using since the relaunch anyway.

A UK man has constucted a life-size Dalek out of 480,000 matchsticks over a period of two years.

"I spent an hour or maybe two on it at a day because I have a bad back and it is difficult sitting still for such a long time," said Mr Croucher, a retired electroplater. "Besides, it can be a tedious business."

Tedious or not, he's selling it if you're buying. More below:

According to The Register, Dr Who Magazine has ranked the Best Ever Dr Who Episodes

The winner, 1984's The Caves of Androzani, which moved us from Peter Davison to Colin Baker.

Second place goes to Blink, with David Tennant.

Works for me!

DW Specials Return

The two most recent Doctor Who specials return to BBC America next Sunday (9/13) in case you, like me, missed them the first time around:

4:30 PM - Doctor Who: The Next Doctor
When the Doctor investigates a spate of mysterious deaths, he's surprised to meet another Doctor. The two must combine forces to defeat a human ally to the Cybermen. But are two Doctors enough to stop the rise of the CyberKing?

5:45 PM - Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead
The mysterious Lady Christina de Souza joins the Doctor on a bus-trip which takes a very unexpected detour into danger.

So the first new pictures are out of The Doctor v11.0. I'm more than willing to give this a chance given the great record they've established to date with the new series, but he keeps getting younger and younger with almost every regeneration recently.

There may be what some consider to be spoilers ahead, but personally I take The Sun with a large grain of salt. Plus, it's still pretty early to call anything more than speculation at this point...

Who on BBC America

It looks like BBC America has secured rights to the first run of new Who in the US and not the Sci-Fi Channel. Sorry Syfy, I'm going to keep calling it that. Follow the link below for upcoming Doctor Who and Torchwood times.

Bonus: The post mentions that BBC America HD launches July 20.
