Ok, technically Iowa is #4 in the BCS standings. But if you look over at the last column, you will see that the computer- which can't be affected by ESPN's endless hyping of the SEC has the Hawkeyes at #1!
(in an unrelated note: ESPN is on the hook to the SEC for $2 billion over 15 years. But they wouldn't promote that conference just to get more money, would they? Of course not!)
In other news- Jesse Palmer is a serious D-bag.

Just got back from a homebrew blowout (shout out to Marktoberfest 3- 2nd anniversary party commemorating Marktoberfest 1!) where I got to rub the Iowa-Penn State result in the faces of a bunch of Golden Gomers. They were all up in my grill about "almost losing to UNI" and I was like "dude- they're pretty good! Ever hear of Kurt Warner? And besides- it was a wake-up call!" And they were like "Gophers have much more history." and I was like "maybe in the 1930's!" And then like after the game they were all like "wow- maybe Iowa is pretty good." And I was like "so was your mom" and then they like all looked at me and said "dude- so not cool."
So- like thanks for not embarrassing me at a party Iowa, I can to that by myself- Go Hawkeyes!

ESPN ranks Iowa #20 in their pre-season power rankings. Sure, it's not one of the REAL polls, but it's nice to see Big Sports Media notice someone not in the Eastern time zone in the Big TEleveN.
Oh yeah - I see USAToday ranks Iowa at #21. So what's the buzz down there? Up here they pretend the Gophers actually matter, so I'm out of touch. Trogdor- fill me in!

I'm pretty sure I heard Ken saying he needed a new tailgating grill. This might do the trick if it isn't just for show and actually works...
Of course, this might be a good choice as well...
Or maybe one of these. So many choices...

I'm not sure that could do better for a musical line up...

Now that another NFL Black Monday has come and gone (that Monday after the regular season when coaches and GMs get thrown out of the nest and under the bus)- The speculation about which College coach will be the next Steve Spurrier/Nick Saban begins.
Already on this year's short list for the Cleveland job: Coach Kirk.
Rumor is that if Cleveland hires Scott Pioli as GM- Kirk is on the top of his wish list.
Thoughts from anyone in the immediate vicinity? What are you hearing? (I'm looking at you, Trogdor!)

Just want to share my Thanksgiving thoughts for 08 when it comes to friends and football.
Overall, this football season rocked! There were low points (losing to Northwestern at Homecoming, falling to the non-team that is Illinois), but indeed there were high points, and they were very high!
Beating Penn State by 1 point off of a soccer player's last second field goal. AMAZING.
Beating Purdue was cool, actually very cold, but worth it. FELT GOOD.
And the cherry on top was routing the Gophers last weekend! This was a dream come true for me, as I said something about how sweet it would be to skunk the Gophers to Z as we drove over to see the game. CAN'T COME DOWN!
Additional high points were some awesome times tailgating at Bob's. High five on the food -- we rocked it! Thanks to the travelin' band for playing Roll Along!
And to our core group -- you all rock -- thanks for everything. Let's do it again next year!

What a great weekend! Not only do the Hawks take down the Lions (what the hell is a Nittany anyway?) but the Goofers lose out to Michigan. It's gonna be a good week!
So what's the word from those in attendance? Looked like one happy crowd at the end of that one!
(Side note- Mr Murray is the grandson of an old family friend! I used to hang out with his mom when I was a kid - she's a bit older than me, but I still feel old).
