I gotta say, I am digging the new Battlestar Galactica

in a major way. I think it totally shames everything Star Trek has done since Next Generation.

Aw hell, I'll say it. It's better than Next Generation (with the possibe exception of First Contact.

Seems someone's itchin' for a fight. Unfortunately, I can't help you out. I haven't seen the new Galactica, though Trogdor gave the mini-series a "thumbs-up" and it seems to have some attractive stars.

In all fairness, the new BG has some TNG-era creds in the form of Trek alum (and BG big cheese) Ron Moore. Some might argue the new BG wouldn't be in business right now without the influence of the Trek behemoth.

The main problem with Trek these days is that they really haven't tried to do anything but follow the "formula" (despite their periodic claims of "new" or "different") since the time of TNG. Shades of the "Bond" franchise.

Amen! With Bond I feel like all the "new direction" talk they give off periodically is just to keep actors interested in taking the role. After they get them to sign on they go back to formula.

And don't think I'm not giving props to Ron Moore. I've seen a lot of talk about how Battlestar distills and builds on themes from the later seasons of DS9. Of course I ditched on that one early. Screw Bajor and its frakkin' superstitions!

It just amazes me that they took a property that was totally lame-ass (that would be BG) and turned it into gold. What's next? Bedebedebede-Buck Rogers?

Ah, the fiery ritual of Carousel. In Logan's Run, of course, not the musical. Though I did feel like setting myself on fire several times while playing in the pit for that one.
